Busy Busy

With just a month left of this semester my school work is becoming such a burden! So much to do and just not enough time. By the time I am off work the last thing I want to do is go to school or do homework but that has become my routine and much to my disappointment I have not been able to read very much :(

I have intentionally been rereading books because I love them of course but mainly because if I already know the outcome I am more okay to put the book down and get done what I need to do. I have a terrible habit of getting so into a book that I sacrifice things I need to get done (like school work and sleep) so to keep focused I am trying not to put myself in that situation! It really sucks though because I have recently found soooo many books I am interested in and I can't wait to dive into them!

Since I have found the wonderful online community of book enthusiasts I find myself jealous that everyone seems to be able to read so much more than me! I follow some sites where they seem to review a new book nearly everyday! I am thankful because I have been introduced to so many authors I might not have noticed but still part of me wishes I could read as much as them! I know we all have different jobs or things going on in our lives so some can read more than others but its ok to dream a little right!? I am definitely looking forward to winter break from school and I plan to read as much as possible :)

The title of my blog may seem a bit misleading, some may think this is a book blog but it is not. It is a personal blog. My own online journal. But I really do love books!!

Reviews

Lately I have been reading a lot of book reviews especially on books that I am on the fence about whether or not I should purchase. Some are so so helpful and I am very grateful for that! Others make me want to reach through my computer screen and slap the person that wrote them. My biggest pet peeve is people that just sum up the story. Um hello I'm reading your review because I am interested in READING the story I do NOT want you to tell me the entire story in a summary... It totally ruins it!! I understand everyone has different preferences but I am pretty sure most people are not reading reviews to find out what happens in the book. I read reviews to see if the majority of readers were able to read the book easily. Like did it flow good, pull you in where you couldn't put it down, did you relate to the characters, etc... Things like that are what I am interested in! Gah just had to vent a little :)

So today I am starting Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. I have already read it before what seems like a really long time ago! Even if your a Twilight hater you know the movie is coming out soon (yippie) anyways I always make a point to read a book right before I see a movie because I like to be refreshed on the details! So here I am starting another book! School is crazy busy for me right now so I am not even sure I will finish it before the movie is out but I am going to try!

Date Night

Last night Zomb and I had a date night! We went to Yard House for a delicious dinner and some drinks. We try to make a point of having frequent date nights to keep us from getting too boring and monotonous.

I especially love date nights because it gives me a chance to wear new shoes!!! Last night was no different. I wore my Guess black platform pumps! I actually purchased these awhile back but I never got around to wearing them until last night. For having such a high heel they were remarkably comfortable, gotta love that cute and comfy! Speaking of that heel I had no idea they were so tall! I am 5'9 and Zombie is 6'7 so I never have to worry about shoes making me taller than him. Last night I put the shoes on and Zomb was quick to point out that I was super tall! So I measured my shoes they have a 5 1/2" heel on them wowsa! I don't mind being super tall, I'm used to being taller than most girls and I am also taller than most guys when I am in heels but it doesn't bother me. Take a look at these beauties I sure do love them :)

We have been to Yard House before but usually just to meet friends for drinks. The food was superb! We started with a spinach cheese dip and it was good! I had Crab Crusted Swordfish. Yum Yum Yum! It was so good I can't wait to go back and have it again! Mr. Z had a 14oz. New York Steak and he said it was delicious. I  did not try his as I am not a big fan of red meat. I eat it but I don't prefer it. Next time we will skip the appetizer because it was way too much food, I ended up taking home over half of my meal and all of Z's green beans! Although three beers significantly contributed to my fullness! I had my all time favorite pyramid hefeweizen with a lemon of course! If you have never had this beer I recommend it! I also tried a seasonal beer, Warsteiner Oktoberfest , it was pretty good. Zomb had a few of his favorite drink Jack & Coke. Later we went to Millers Ale House and caught the end of the double overtime USC vs. Stanford game where I sampled the Samuel Adams Oktoberfest it was my least favorite of the night and I will not be having that again.

Overall a fantastic evening out! Now I have loads of homework to do. Not Fun! I have to hide my books so I am not tempted to read them. :( Tuesday night I will be able to get in a little reading hopefully! Once the semester ends I will have roughly a month to indulge in as many books as possible before embarking on my last semester of college EVER!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I just recently started reading the Harry Potter series and I have never seen any of the movies. Well actually as I have finished each book I've watched the movie so I have seen the first two so far. These are my sisters favorite books and J.K. Rowling is her favorite author and we made a deal to read each others favorites so we could discuss them! For an added bonus once I finish all 7 books we will be taking a short trip to Florida to Universal Studios where we will stop at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She has been before and had a blast although she says its pretty small. She was there for over a week and visited all of the Disney World Parks as well. Lucky girl! Anyways I am always up for a fun vacation so I told her once I finish we will take a sisters trip for just a few days where we will visit the park, beach, and bars!

Now on to the book..... Well I must say Harry Potter is just not my thing. I think the books are written well but maybe a little juvenile for me. I think what is missing is the love interests, I am a sucker for a book with a lil love story thrown in somehow! I would give this book a B. It was just okay for me. I found it interesting but I was able to easily put it down. When I did put it down the story never crossed my mind. A book I would rate at A+ Better than all the rest is one that I hate to put down and when I must I find myself wondering throughout the day what is going to happen in the book. I did enjoy the twists in this book. I was thinking some things and then found out later in the book how wrong I had been! So am I looking forward to the next book in the series? Meh possibly, but I would be lying if I didn't say that was mainly because I want to be able to discuss the books with my sister (who read them when they came out) and most importantly because it gets me one book closer to vacation woohoo!

P.S. I do realize that I am way behind in just now reading Harry Potter since with the movies it has taken the world by storm, but its better late than never right!?

Zombie love

So me and Zombie (what I am calling my boyfriend on this blog since he will watch ANY zombie movie even if its absolutely terrible, also the only books I have been able to get him to read have been zombie themed) anyways we had lazy date day because we both had the day off. We rented two movies I chose Bad Teacher and he chose Fast Five. While checking out in Walgreens I found the most amazing treat ever! Are you ready for this??

Coconut M&MS!!! I have no idea when these came out but OH MY they are AWESOME!! I'm not usually into eating sweets as I prefer spicy foods but these are divine. My favorite candy has always been an almond joy and that is exactly what these coconut M&Ms remind me of. Please go try them for yourselves I promise you will not be disappointed and if you are then send them my way :)

Now if you haven't already seen them you might be wondering how the movies were... My pick of course was the best! Zombie even agreed! It was pretty funny throughout the entire movie so I was happy! Fast five on the other hand wasn't really that good maybe it's time they retire that franchise. It had an okay concept but it felt like the movie went on for ever. Still watchable but I don't care to see it again.

When we rent movies we always switch off who gets to pick and it is same for seeing a movie in a theater. I think this is a great way to each get to see the movies we are really interested in and it is fair so I am not always dragging him to what I want and vice versa. Unfortunately for me it means quite a bit of not so great zombie movies, he feels the same about my chick flicks! The one he never lets me down for dragging him to was Sex & the City. Haha he HATED it but I LOVED it :) The shoes in that movie are fabulous!

Today is the day....

That I write my first post!! I'm just getting the hang of this but that is okay considering my sis is most likely the only one that will see this for now (Hey sister see ya in less than two months yippie!)

So what sparked my interest in blogging?? Well actually reading the most recent Soul Screamers book If I Die by Rachel Vincent and here's why.... Read it.Loved it. Realized I could not wait until the release of the next book and that I must read more Vincent NOW! So I bought Stray for my nook and could not put it down! I finished it quickly and immediately downloaded the next one, and the next one, and the next.. you get the drift. Hopefully not sounding too insane I have to admit I even read the book at work (when I could sneak a moment it) on my phone through my B&N app that is linked to my nook. Anyways I was blown away by the series and heartbroken when I finished the last book knowing there were no more so I did the only thing I could think of and I decided to reread all of the Soul Screamers and Shifters books. Now I am not one to reread books in fact the only other time I have reread a book was to familiarize myself with a story again before seeing a movie based on the book, so the fact that I want to reread these books is kind of a big deal. Not to mention I am also waiting on my next paycheck before I can go on anymore book or shoe shopping sprees. And yes I still need to purchase and read Blood Bound it is on my to-do list. Now that I have successfully gone off topic let me get back to where I was headed, after getting bitten by the love to read bug I started looking around online for more fun series that I need to read and that is when i discovered the glory of blogs about BOOKS! Um awesome if I say so myself!

I am in grad school so I can't read as often as I would like but I still get through books pretty quickly! When I get really into a book its almost a curse to myself because I'm just so gosh darn impatient! I find myself skimming details to get to the good juicy stuff like whats going to happen, who is likes who, is my hopeful fate for a character going to come true... So I am trying to focus on really taking in everything a book has to offer!

P.S. my favorite thing to do is take a nice giant bubble bath and indulge in a book :)
